Osteopathic Treatment

Goals

Is to reduce the swelling, inflammation and muscle guarding around the area, and to rehabilitate the joint, muscle or ligaments to get it back to normal function, and to prevent further injury.

Manual Treatment:

Improves the body’s circulatory and nervous systems to promote better healing, and increases the elasticity and mobility of the joint and surrounding soft tissues.

Exercise Program:

A rehabilitation program can help strengthen the injured area and prevent further injury. Advice on staying fit without aggravating the injury would also be beneficial.

MANAGEMENT AFTER INJURY

Tips to prevent sports injuries

  • Warm up and cool down sessions before and after exercise. If muscles are cold during vigorous exercise, they are more susceptible to injury.

  • A stretching session MUST follow any exercise. All stretches must be held for at least 30 seconds or they will be of no benefit.

  • Drink plenty of water before, during and after exercise to keep the body well hydrated.
